Power window switches

The power window switch for the drivers window stopped working a few weeks ago, so today I stopped by Macarthur Auto Parts at Narellan and picked up a set of the illuminated switches from the GT.

I’ve only fitted the switchbank in the drivers door so far, which means my window now works. I’ll fit the others later.

While I was there I also picked up a centrecap for the right-front wheel, which was missing when I bought the car.

Seeing I haven’t eaten all day, and Maccas is just around the corner, I’m off to get some food.

Moving house

With many thanks to Nathan for lending me a trailer, Mark for picking it up for me and Adam for helping load and unload, I’ve now got most of my loungeroom and bedroom stuff moved to mum’s.

The work fridge is now sitting in the garage also. Another load, and I should be out if the old house, then it’s the garage left to go. While it might sound easy, there is so much stuff in the garage it’s not funny.

Adam, WauloK and I are now sitting down fir some Chinese food, then we’ll head home where I have to start getting things ready for work tomorrow.

Electricity

Everything that I have had to do since mum’s death has been horribly difficult. From getting up of a morning, to eating, to making arrangements for bills or services.

Everything except the electricity.

I phoned Origin Energy, and told them that mum had passed away, at which point they became very cooperative.
Electricity for the house is now in my name.

Broadband situation

It looks like mum had a 1gb/month plan for her broadband, which was demolished in two days of web browsing. Being shaped is not fun.

Seeing that I do not have the certificate of mum’s death yet, I couldn’t do anything to move my iiNet connection over.

There had to be a way, so I logged in to her toolbox, and added myself as an authority on the account, then phoned them back and upgraded the broadband plan.

It is nothing more than a temporary solution, until I get the certificate, and I can change ownership of the phoneline, then port it right to iiNet, then move my broadband over from EvilHouse(3).

So for now, shaping is gone, and sync speed is up to 8mbit (apparently the line length is 3000 metres, not 800 like I thought it would be).

Foxtel technical problems

Having moved in to EvilHouse(4) around a week ago, getting the Foxtel moved over was no more troublesome than a phone-call. The technician appeared on the next business day, I was extremely impressed.

That said, WauloK and I did not find out until that night that we had some issues on the downstairs cable box.

  • Sci Fi channel is distorted to the point of not being watchable.
  • None of the free-to-air channels work.

So now I’m sitting at home, waiting for the cable TV repairmain to arrive, and fix the problem with our downstairs Foxtel box.

New EvilHouse website.

I have no idea how many incarnations there have been of the EvilHouse website.

We’ll call this one number 7. I always liked the number 7.

This time around, I’ve decided to go a bit bloggy, as my new flatmate, WauloK, and I both operate blogs on our own sites, and I hope to somehow get everything working together.

Theme and content haven’t been decided on just yet. I’m sure that they will be seen to soon.
